There are some emails you read once and carry on with your day.

And then there are emails that make you stop completely.

For me, one of those emails arrived from British Vogue.

And my first thought?

It must be a scam.

“Surely they haven't contacted me?”

When the email first landed in my inbox, I genuinely couldn't believe it.

Vogue.

The Vogue.

The magazine I had known about for as long as I can remember. The name that represents fashion, creativity and some of the most influential designers and brands in the world.

And somehow, they had contacted The Blue Zebra.

I read the email again.

And again.

I think part of me was waiting to find the catch.

Once I realised it really was Vogue, my disbelief quickly turned into a rather overwhelming mixture of excitement and nerves.

Because the truth is, I wasn't sure we were right for them.

And I wasn't sure I was ready.

So I actually emailed Vogue back and told them.

I explained that I wasn't sure The Blue Zebra was right for Vogue and that I wasn't sure I was ready for something like this.

Their response was one I will never forget.

They reassured me that they wouldn't have contacted me if they didn't believe The Blue Zebra belonged there.

And that was the moment I decided to say yes.

From The Blue Zebra to the pages of Vogue

And now, somehow, it has happened.

The Blue Zebra is featured in British Vogue.

Our Toy Box Romper appears in the September issue, marking the very first time one of our designs has appeared in Vogue.

Even writing that feels strange.

The Toy Box Romper is one of those designs that captures so much of what I love about The Blue Zebra.

Traditional children's clothing, beautiful detailing, soft Pima cotton and little touches designed to make an outfit feel special without losing the joy and simplicity of childhood.

To see it sitting inside the pages of Vogue is something I never imagined when I started designing The Blue Zebra.

And it doesn't stop with one issue…

Perhaps the most surreal part of all is that this isn't a one-off.

The Blue Zebra will also be featured in the following two issues of British Vogue.

Three consecutive issues.

Three opportunities to introduce The Blue Zebra to people who may never have discovered us before.

For a small independent children's clothing brand, it feels enormous.

And exciting.

And slightly terrifying.

When life feels still and fast at the same time

One of the strangest things about this whole experience is that, while something incredibly exciting is happening, everyday life carries on exactly as it always does.

I'm still designing.

Still checking fabrics.

Still answering emails.

Still packing orders.

Still thinking about the next collection.

Still trying to work out what needs doing before the end of the day.

And yet, somewhere in the middle of all that, The Blue Zebra is appearing in Vogue.

It feels like life has somehow pressed the pause button and fast-forward at exactly the same time.

There is disbelief.

There is excitement.

There is a little bit of fear.

And there is an enormous amount of gratitude.

A little brand with a big dream

The Blue Zebra was created from a love of beautiful children's clothing and the belief that childhood deserves to be celebrated.

I wanted to create pieces that felt timeless. Clothes with beautiful silhouettes, thoughtful details and exceptional fabrics. Pieces that could be worn for everyday adventures, family celebrations and all those ordinary moments that become precious memories.

Our collections are made in Peru using beautiful Pima cotton, with traditional-inspired silhouettes, embroidery, smocking and carefully considered details.

And now, one of those little designs has found its way into the pages of British Vogue.

That feels rather extraordinary.

Thank you for being part of it

If you've bought from The Blue Zebra, followed us, shared our clothes, recommended us to a friend or simply cheered us on from the side lines, thank you.

Small businesses are built one customer, one order and one little moment at a time.

So although my name may be on the business, this journey has never felt like something I've done completely on my own.

And when I look at that Toy Box Romper in Vogue, I don't just see a page in a magazine.

I see how far The Blue Zebra has come.

From an idea…

to beautiful clothes being made in Peru…

to little ones wearing them…

and now, somehow…

British Vogue.

I still can't quite believe it.

But I'm incredibly proud.

And I'm very excited to see where The Blue Zebra goes next.

With love,
